PRINCE'S PINE
Chimaphilia umbellate (L.) Barton

The Mi'kmaq used prince's pine to treat tuberculosis. It was also considered useful for a variety of other ailments.

I imagine it was used quite frequently during the 19th century, and must have seen regular use well into this present century. Clearly, many of the present-day Mi'kmaq are aware of the medicinal benefits of the plant and some people still use it for medicinal purposes.

This is an important medicinal, and I would advise my readers to consult various herbals to gain a more complete background on the medicinal potency of this wonderful plant.
